“I feel at peace, when focusing in on something both small and beautiful.”
“Looking out to sea can instil humans with a sense of awe; it’s vast scale bringing with it a profound sense of peace. And yet, the converse is also true.
I have always taken refuge in the tiny details of life.
Each of my pieces are the culmination of many hours, spent sculpting at the bench. Most are formed through a combined process of carving and hand-fabrication, and I pride myself on going the extra mile to deliver a high level of detail.
Inspiration can surface in the waking world or call softly within a dream. Boundless beauty is to be found in the natural world; in the imperfection of organic form, the changing of the seasons, the reliable cycle of growth and decay.
Clients can rest easy in the knowledge that my making process is gentle on the earth; I use recycled precious metals to work sustainably and reduce the demand for newly mined materials.”
- Eleanor
Following her graduation from Bath School of Art & Design, Eleanor began to apply her Fine Art education to the field of metal work. Nurturing an innate love of sculpture, she began crafting wearable fine art pieces, with a focus on organic form and intricate surface detail.
Spending the following years working as a freelance Goldsmith and Bench Jeweller cultivated in her a deep respect for the traditional techniques employed within the craft, and the skills needed to produce high quality pieces that are made to last. Compelled to explore a contemporary view of the craft, she endeavoured to produce poetic pieces that meandered away from the beaten track.
Eleanor now navigates the intersection of traditional goldsmithing and contemporary art; combining multiple processes to create her ambitious pieces.
Identifying as an Artist Jeweller, Eleanor works in her home-based studio in the heart of rural Somerset, England.
